The Ultimate Hinsdale Family Room

For many of us, the dream play room brings home elements from our favorite winter sport.

Whether you prefer a high-tech Beer Throwing Fridge [as seen on David Letterman] or just a reliable old Kegerator done in stainless steel, you are sure to want your furnishings to include a regulation height net and chairs emblazened with a chicken wire pattern.

The American Platform Tennis Association has launched its virtual Hall of Fame. Take a fascinating stroll through the history of our favorite game at: http://www.platform-tennis.org/HoF1960s.html

HPTA 2008 Tournament Logo Proposed

The HPTA board spent 3-1/2 hours considering how to best implement a required moment of silence in its procedures for home matches, in compliance with State of Illinois law.

Giving into a moment of deep patriotism during discussions of that topic, the HPTA board has also determined that its logo will carry the traditional colors of the American flag.

Round Robin Play for Traveling Teams

Hinsdale has 18 teams this year and about 200 players traveling each week for competitive paddle. One of the fun traditions of our program is to mix up players from all levels in round-robin play.

In order to accommodate as many players as possible, we'll be doing that this season on two nights:

session 1: Wednesday, January 2, from 7 to 10 PM

session 2: Friday, January 4, from 7 to 10 PM

Cost: $10 for pizza, balls, and refreshments paid in cash or by check to the Hinsdale Platform Tennis Association

Sign-up individually for one of these evenings on the reservations site under the EVENT REGISTRATION

We'll pair up teams for a set and then rearrange for the next round. All matches will be at KLM. A maximum of 32 players can play.

HPD Women's Teams Wind Up a Winning First-Half Season

The women of Hinsdale Paddle are on their way up! All 4 women's teams had stellar first half performances. The Series 1 team, captained by Holly Tritt and Mary Doten, finished the fall season in 1st place. This is the first season for this team. They are hoping that this will stop the question, "and now, where is Hinsdale exactly?"
After a rocky start, the Series 5 team, captained by Margaret Hawn, rebounded and took 2nd place. Their hard work and determination paid off as they will head up to Series 4 in January.
Continuing the success story is the Series 9 women, captained by Cathleen Robinson. They played Five Seasons, the 1st place team, to a tie but otherwise tore up the league. They are looking forward to the competition of Series 8 in January.
Lastly, the Series 12 women, captained by Kathleen Mulligan, are on their way up. While the league granted our petition to jump to Series 10, these women will not stop there. This team is loaded with solid competitors who are doing Hinsdale proud.
