Welcome to the 3rd season of the Weekend Warrior Paddle League (WWPL). It’s time to sign up for the 2013/2014 season. The season will start Oct 19th and extend through March 15th (including playoffs), with breaks for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's holidays. We will again play on Saturday afternoons, with start times of 2:30 or 4:00 at HGC, SCC, BCC or HPD, with refreshments and camaraderie to follow. NEW CLUBS. This year we are happy to include Butterfield Country Club and Chicago Highlands Club to the WWPL. We will be expanding the league to an additional 4 – 6 teams in make room for the new clubs. We will play at Butterfield beginning this year and Chicago Highlands next year.
This is a first come, first served invitation. You will be drafted among three flights.
There will be 8 - 10 men on a roster and 6 players per team will play each week. Each Flight will have a commissioner who will oversee the Draft and Playoffs, and generally make sure that everything runs smoothly throughout the season. Flight A -- Ed Varin, Flight B --Mark Gupta, Flight C -- Michael Lee.
We are currently looking for Captains. The draft will be held Oct 6th at Salt Creek Clubhouse. When you respond to sign up for league also let us know if you want to be a captain. We have a website that makes being a captain pretty easy.
League Fee: The fee is $80.00 for HPTA members and $90.00 for non-members. You are a HPTA member if you are an active travel league player for Hinsdale Golf Club, Salt Creek Club, Chicago Highlands, Butterfield or Hinsdale Park District. The extra $10.00 will cover you membership fee if you are not a travel player. Your captain will collect all fees for the league. Beverages, match balls, and awesome prizes are included in league fee.
Membership Requirements: This league is currently open to HGC, SCC, BCC, CH and HPD members only. If you are not a member of one of these clubs or HPD, then you need to join HPD to participate in the league. Here is a link to join. http://www.villageofhinsdale.org/pr/default.php.
Scroll down to Platform Tennis information.
To register for the league please do the following:
1. Name
2. Name of Club you are a member.
3. Travels Series (1 – 27) If you don’t play travel read on. I know they switched the travel series levels but I’m not a tennis player so keep it old school!
If you are not playing travel this year, please let us know what series you played last year. If you don’t play travel, let us know how long you’ve played paddle and if you consider yourself beginner, intermediate or advanced. If you can give us a travel player you consider yourself the same level it will help you get drafted in the correct flight.
Again, there are limited spots available in the league. Anyone responding after the league is filled will be placed on a Sub List. If you can’t commit to regular participation in the league, and want to be on the sub list, let us know.
Finally, we would like to thank the Hinsdale Platform Tennis Association (HPTA) for sponsoring the league!
