Bill O'Brien, President of the 500-member Hinsdale Platform Tennis Association, is seen presenting an award to Bob Kotula last week. Kotula is the Director of the Village of Hinsdale Parks Department.
The plaque was given in appreciation for the rapid progress made on Village of Hinsdale's new platform tennis facility at Katherine Legge Memorial Park. Opening day took play in September 2004, just five months after the Village Board gave final approval to the project.
Bill O'Brien has also received national recognition for his role in Hinsdale's paddle programs. Bill has recently been elected to the board of the American Platform Tennis Association and will represent the 19-states that make up the midwest region. The sport is seeing its fastest growth nationwide in the Chicago area, in part due to the efforts of supporters like Kotula and O'Brien.
