Dear Fellow KLM paddlers,
I am writing regarding the 2nd Annual Al Ward Memorial Golf tournament which is going to be held Monday, June 6th (less than a month from now) at Cog Hill (courses #1 & #3) benefitting the Christian Outreach Foundation or "COF". The COF was formed by a group of friends and colleagues of Al's upon his untimely death in 2003 to support 3 Youth Charities. Al loved, served and/ or helped found these charities after he took early retirement and touched the lives of many in and around Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills and these efforts in Chicago. They are the Wolfpack Youth Basketball Program - which ministers to over 250 kids out of the Lawndale Christian Church in Chicago, Chicago Communities in Schools which fills economic, and other critical counseling/ family service needs to children/ families in the Chicago School System and GoodCity - a faith based community enrichment program that helps foster, grow and sustain non-profits in the inner city of Chicago. Last year, we were able to donate over $80,000 combined to these three charities and hope to meet or exceed that goal again this year to help to continue and grow these worthwhile and transforming charities. We need your help! We still have several golf tee times available on courses #1 and #3 at Cog Hill which will tee it up between roughly 10:30 - 12:00. The greens fees include the cost of lunch and dinner (which will start at approximately 5-5:30). At the conclusion of dinner we will have a brief program with updates from the harities and a silent auction which will include a basketball autographed by the NCAA runner-up Fighting Illini, several vacation destination trips and sporting event tickets.
