Roof Shingles Applied
The roof shingles have been applied. The wood trim and stucco will come soon, but first the contractors are busy getting in the rough plumbing and HVAC ductwork.
No action on the courts. We're still apparently waiting for materials from New York.
Check out the views from the hut of the northeast court!

Hinsdale Village Board Approves Change Order #1
On Monday, July 19, the Parks Commission discussed the status of construction at KLM.
The following evening, the Administration and Community Affairs Committee met to discuss the project budget and a set of changes:
Change order #1 which reduced the Village's liability to All-Bry Construction from $270,500 to $268,105 was approved. This change order was made up of:
- a reduction of the sewer/water allowance by $22,005,
- an increase to add interior trusses at $4,000,
- an increase to cover the sprinkler system at $12,293, and
- an increase to cover plumbing revisions at $3,317.
In addition, the ACA and Village Board approved the purchase of 20 chairs and 4 tables for the warming hut.
Lastly, revisions to the annual fees for passholders were approved.
Trustee Laura Johnson, who had spoken out skeptically at each of the topics related to paddle voted against these revisions, suggesting that a 3X to 4X increase in fees (on top of $165,000 in donations!) was not sufficient.

Suburban Life Visits KLM Construction Site
Roof Goes Up
The framing carpenters made some progress with the roof and laying out the interior of the hut this week. You can also see a bit of progress with the Racine court. Its snow boards are up and the skirting has been applied.
You can't really tell from the snapshots, but the most delightful thing about the hut can be seen from inside. Even with just the framing in place, you can get a feel for how great the view of the northeast court will be from inside the hut. The view to the northwest court will also be magnificent.

Walls of the Hut Go Up
The framing of the hut began Thursday. The crew was putting the hut floor down on Friday morning.
By Friday evening, three of the walls were built.
Three of the four court decks are up now. The superstructure of the Racine court is also up and Reilly Green Mountain added the screens and doors this week.
You can start to get a sense for how much better views of the paddle courts will be at KLM now that the windows are framed.

Fundraising Climbs to 83%
Just 5 weeks after we began collecting the pledges for KLM, the Village of Hinsdale has received 81% of the donations and 83% of the amount pledged.
An important deadline is just two weeks away. On July 20 we'll report on the money donated, the project's budget, and ask the Village to approve a series of changes (e.g. adding the trusses and perhaps also a fireplace).

Work of the Foundation Continued
There's been lots of activity at KLM:
- The foundation was sealed, insulated, and dirt back-filled
- The sewer line was put in place
- The second new court arrived from New York
- The pre-owned court from Racine, Wisconsin arrived
- The remaining concrete posts for the courts were poured
In the next week or two:
- KLM will go from 1 to 3 court decks
- Framing will be done for the hut
- The Village gave a green light to add trusses to the hut, as we had hoped
It's starting to take shape quite quickly.
